King’s College London (KCL) and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) hosted an online colloquium, ‘Desmond Tutu: Spirituality, Social Justice and Leadership’ on 6 April 2022 commemorating the life and work of Nobel Prize winner, the late Desmond Tutu.

Both universities had close associations with the late Archbishop. The event was led by Professor Linda Woodhead (KCL) and Professor Sarojini Nadar (UWC). You can find the full programme and related documents on the King’s College Events page here: https://tinyurl.com/kclevents
Speakers
The programme illustrated the many-faceted involvement of Desmond Tutu. The speakers, many of whom knew and worked with Tutu, included:

· Nyameko Barney Pityana, Black Consciousness pioneer
· Revd Mpho Tutu van Furth, Theologian
· Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize winner 2014
· Vicentia Kgabe, Anglican Bishop of Lesotho
· Graça Machel, Vice-Chair of The Elders, and
· Koleka Putuma, award-winning South African poet and playwright
